First raced at Reims in France on July 4, 1954, the Formula 1 Mercedes-Benz W196 Streamliner was driven instantly to a first and second place victory by J M Fangio and K Kling. Looking heart-achingly beautiful and strikingly elegant next to the more conventional competition, it became an immediate sensation. Now, there are only four Streamliners in existence and these are jealously guarded by Daimler AG as their most valuable museum exhibits, worth hundreds of millions of Dollars. Of the four surviving Streamliners, only one has remained operational. The sole running Streamliner is in exceptionally high demand for events throughout the world but is rarely ever seen in public and only at very special events.

The W196 Streamliner® was awarded the exceptional honour of being chosen by Daimler AG Britain as a major exhibit for their 125 year anniversary celebrations, and this rare distinction speaks volumes for the build quality and striking appearance of the Streamliner®. It remained on display for more than a year at the British Daimler museum "Mercedes-Benz-World". Our W196 Streamliner® is so close to the original that Sir Stirling Moss was quite convinced that he had raced our car in the 1950s. In fact, the Streamliner® proved to be such a significant crowd magnet that visitors would call the museum in advance to make sure that the W196 Streamliner® was on display and not out racing on a track.

There is also footage of the Streamliner® on the famous banking of the venerable Brooklands track and it can be seen ascending the Test Hill.
